Donnie Poindexter

Donnie Poindexter is a self-taught artist working primarily in graphite and charcoal. Although he has worked in this medium for over thirty years, he has only pursued it full-time since 2020. His work reflects his love for all things Native American and the cowboy way of life.

He has work on display at the Hidden Talent Fine Art Gallery in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and the Cherokee Nation Spider Art Gallery in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Donnie is a retired educator with a BS Degree from Oklahoma State University and an MS from Northeastern Oklahoma State University.

His most recent awards include First Place in the open art division at Green Forest Cowboy Gathering and Art Show in 2018, the Judges Choice Award at the 26th Annual Cherokee Homecoming Art Show in 2021, Third Place in Drawing at Cowboy True Art Show in Wichita Falls; Texas in 2021, Merit Award in drawing at the 25th Annual Cherokee Homecoming Art Show and Sale 2021 and Third Place in drawing at Cowboy True Art Show in Wichita Falls, Texas in 2022 and Second Place in drawing at Cowboy True Art Show in 2023.
